Pediatric Pneumology and Allergology is the medical specialty responsible for the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of respiratory and allergic diseases during the pediatric age.
Some of the most frequent pathologies of this service are:
Asthma.
Bronchiolitis in infants and recurrent bronchitis.
Chronic cough.
Respiratory allergy (mites, pollen, fungi and animals): asthma, rhinitis and allergic conjunctivitis.
Food allergy: allergy to eggs, milk, nuts, fish, shellfish, etc.
The treatment indicated will always depend on the type of pathology. However, in some cases, inhaled treatment (bronchodilator and anti-inflammatory) may be necessary, in others it will be important to follow the recommendations to avoid exposure to the allergen responsible, the treatment of symptoms and in some cases we will use immunotherapy (allergy vaccines).
